WHO full form, working, history, and goal
What is the full form of WHO?
The full form of WHO is the World Health Organization.
The World Health Organization, or WHO, is a specialized agency of the United Nations that is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters. The WHO coordinates with governments and other international organizations to provide technical support in responding to health emergencies.
It helps to shape the health research agenda and providing guidance. It was established in 1948. The current Director-General of the WHO is Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus who took office on July 1, 2017.
How does WHO work?
The World Health Organization works to combat health issues around the world. It has been working with countries to help them reduce death rates for children under five, which are some of the highest in the world. They have also helped make vaccines available and they work on many other projects like preventing HIV transmission, promoting healthy food choices, and fighting chronic diseases like diabetes. The organization was founded in 1948 after World War II by states who wanted to create an international body that would be able to respond quickly when emergencies arise.
The WHO’s mission is to make sure people everywhere enjoy the highest possible level of health and well-being by preventing diseases, promoting good health, providing effective treatment for those who are ill and helping to create healthier communities; this includes all social determinants such as housing conditions, education status, employment opportunities, etc. The WHO also helps countries by providing technical support so they can deal with emergencies more efficiently while reducing economic impact on their populations through developing sustainable solutions for healthcare systems.
It has played a great role in eradicating polio. They are also working on other things like HIV/AIDS prevention all over the world as well as tackling major issues such as climate change’s effects on health care systems.
Established on 7 April 1948, its headquarters are located in Geneva, Switzerland. The WHO was conceived at a UN conference to address the pressing need to stop the spread of malaria after WWII ended. In collaboration with governments and other partners, it works closely with countries for health development and global health security. One of their main objectives has been combating diseases that have become endemic or pandemic in large regions such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, corona, and many others which threaten people’s lives worldwide.
The World Health Organization is an international organization that seeks to control the spread of disease was created to help countries recover from devastation due to war. The WHO works with governments on a global level, but also provides support for local health authorities and NGOs. One of their major goals is “to achieve universal access to healthcare”.
The World Health Organization focuses on bettering lives by providing medical care, education, and research. They are always trying new ways to stop diseases before they start through immunization programs or other preventative measures like hand washing or wearing masks while sick.
The WHO’s mission is to coordinate efforts between nations to achieve better global health outcomes across a range of different sectors including healthcare delivery, communicable disease control, non-communicable disease prevention and management, promotion of mental health, and general well-being.
Goal of WHO
The World Health Organization is an independent international organization that works to improve the health of people all over the world. The WHO has helped reduce polio cases by 99% since 1988, and measles deaths by 85%. Its goals are to achieve universal health care coverage for everyone, end preventable illness, provide information for healthy living, and ensure environmental sustainability.
Another goal of the WHO is to invest in research for future generations. They have contributed more than US$2 billion towards research on malaria alone! They work with other non-profit organizations like Doctors Without Borders who go into areas where no one else will go because it’s too dangerous or there are not enough doctors available.
It tries to achieve this goal by focusing on three areas: providing evidence-based technical support for countries to develop their own health policies; monitoring and assessing global health risks; and building partnerships with other organizations, governments, non-government organizations, civil society groups, academia as well as the private sector.
